Clinical Hypnotherapy
Clinical hypnotherapy is a powerful psychotherapeutic process that induces deep relaxation. It is used on a range of symptomology* to support health & wellbeing goals.
An evidence-based solution
Centuries of research clearly illustrates that the state of hypnotic trance, coupled with powerful and well-formed suggestion is a deeply effective catalyst for healing and it is particularly good for problems with a lot of emotion or that have a high “affective” impact on your day-to-day life.
I combine advanced hypnotherapy techniques with NLP, Timeline Therapy™ and coaching as required to suit your individual needs.
Clinical hypnotherapy is a great way of managing stress by achieving true, deep relaxation in a confidential and comfortable setting in which your conscious mind is guided away from the troubles of everyday life and into a place of tranquillity and peace.
Mind and body can rest and re-set
I will guide you into a state of deep, deep relaxation where your mind is more open to positive suggestions and change. I will install relaxation-promoting responses in your unconscious that keep working long after the sessions have finished. Even better, the more you practice it, the better you get at achieving this deeply relaxed state and the faster you can access it when you need it.
Relaxation is an essential part of self-care, helping you look after your well-being. In fact, it is more important than you might realise and plays a key part in the balancing process, alongside what we eat, how much physical activity we do, and how we handle stress.
When we relax, we are decreasing the effects stress is having on us in body and mind. By ensuring we relax, we find ways to cope with everyday stress, long and short-term stress, as well as health-related issues.
Just knowing what to do doesn't make change happen...
...if that were true there would be no obesity, addiction, anxiety etc. Humans don't work that way. This is because these issues aren't rational or logical, they are responses to stress and the only way to change them is to actively choose to take responsibility for your life, and reprogramme your mind.
I can't "make" you do anything - nobody can
In hypnotherapy I can't make you do anything, but I can help things change much more easily by helping you build new, more helpful, habits that you can use for life. Hypnosis can help you become aware of the direct connection between thoughts and memories, especially those emotions that seem to “come out of nowhere”.
Using a blend of psychological techniques, I assist you in developing a new view of the future and help you to let go of negative emotions like anger, fear, sadness, guilt, and hurt, without the need to delve into painful past events. When you follow instructions 100% you get 100% results.
Alcohol Management
Would you like to feel in control of your drinking forever?
To stop the desire to drink and not feel like you are missing out?
Would you like to save all that money you used to spend on alcohol?
It is no surprise so any people find it difficult to maintain a healthy relationship with alcohol when modern life bombards us with messages, subliminal and overt, telling us to drink.
Alcohol dependency is not black and white, nor is it always easy to recognise. It exists on a scale but in a nutshell it means you feel like you’re unable to relax or enjoy yourself without a drink, or for some, to even function at all.
If you are drinking alcohol regularly to relax or cope with stress, you are likely to have at least a degree of alcohol dependency.Often, there are underlying issues that have led to the problem drinking e.g., trauma, and stress. If you have turned to alcohol to self-medicate, the issue hasn’t been fully dealt with, yet.
"Don't ask why the addiction, ask why the pain" - Gabor Mate
Hypnotherapy can help, you if you are struggling to manage your drinking, especially when combined with other forms of treatment. It accesses your unconscious and works the root cause, then uses suggestion techniques to help adjust associated negative thoughts and behaviour.
The effectiveness of hypnosis in helping people overcome their addictions has gained attention in recent years. It is very helpful in changing the mental shortcuts that maintain unhelpful habits.
Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool that can shift your old problem. Just imagine yourself in the future, having started now and overcome the problem. Notice how many ways your life is better now that you own your relationship with alcohol, on your terms.
Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Would you like to feel calmer?
To be able to stop ruminating?
To be able to take charge of your mind so you don't feel afraid all the time?
We all experience feelings of anxiety, it's a natural response to stress, uncertainty, and new situations but anxiety can become problematic when it starts to affect our day-to-day lives.
When faced with perceived threat, our bodies release stress chemicals including adrenaline and cortisol, that cause the “Fight, Flight and Freeze” response to kick in. Our heart rate increases and blood is diverted. This is normal, and necessary to our survival.
Anxiety occurs when we over-estimate the danger of the anxiety-provoking situation and underestimate our ability to cope with it.
Stresses of modern living mean the nervous system can be activated even when no real threat to life exists e.g., someone looks at you a certain way, or your “To Do” list feels overwhelming.
In this way we can start to internalise the feelings and find ourselves with our hearts pounding, and no idea how to make it stop.
Over 8million people in the UK experience anxiety, and numerous studies have found hypnotherapy to be an effective way to manage the symptoms. It installs a sense of safety, calm and ownership over your old anxiety issues. I can also blend this with coaching, NLP and Timeline Therapy ™ for even better results.
Deep Relaxation
Is your head too busy?
Would you like a regular, dedicated time each week to completely switch off?
Do you struggle with meditation but want to calm your mind?
Would you like to make self-care a priority?
We face constant demands, from work, our families, social lives - and this affects our stress levels. Many of us don’t even realise how stressed we actually are, becoming accustomed to being tense, so we think of it as normal.
Feeling stressed or tense for prolonged periods can have a negative effect on our overall wellbeing. Research studying the relationship between stress and health shows that stress not only affects our mood but can also lead to health implications.
Hypnotherapy is a recognised form of relaxation therapy as it reduces ‘stress chemicals’ and brings the body back to balance. Regular sessions ease built-up stress and tension, helping you , better run your mind and manage your emotions.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Do you want to relieve uncomfortable and painful symptoms?
Would you like to reduce "flare-up's"?
Do you want to manage your symptoms so you can feel relaxed and calm?
According to research, IBS is one of the most common disorders of the digestive system. Triggers are individual and symptomology including; bloating, constipation and diarrhoea and pain can range from an occasional nuisance, to a condition can seriously affect quality of life.
There is evidence to support that a person’s emotional state can trigger problems in the gut. Intense feelings of anxiety and stress may cause the symptoms to worsen. With hypnotherapy, this “mind-body connection” can be used to help you.
Hypnotherapy has been found to help IBS symptomology
It carries a robust evidence base with hypnotherapy as an IBS treatment being recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
NICE recommend that people living with IBS who do not respond to pharmacological treatments after 12 months consider a referral for psychological interventions including hypnotherapy. View the full NICE guidelines on IBS.

Hypnosis for Menopause and age-related issues
Do you want to feel yourself again?
Would you like to relieve symptoms?
Own your life again?
The menopause can be a challenging time that can include negative emotions and symptomology including hot flushes, weight gain, sore muscles and irregular heartbeat. You can end up feeling that you are no longer in control of your world or of your own body.
Hypnotherapy is a holistic solution that goes deeper than only the physical symptoms...
When you relax, your anxiety levels will reduce, and you may find that the intensity of your symptomology reduces too. When you start to feel more in control of your body, by choosing to control how you respond to symptoms, your levels of confidence, calm, and self-belief can rise.
It is easy to get locked into unhelpful patterns of thinking that only allow you to view a situation from one perspective. Through hypnotherapy, you will learn to replace old, unhelpful beliefs about the menopause with new, positive, and forward-looking approaches.
Having developed a greater awareness of your own needs and life goals, you will find increased motivation to move forward and claim the life you deserve.
OCD and PTSD
Do you want to stop getting caught up with difficult thoughts?
Have a rest from the constant stream of thoughts?
And reduce the intensity of difficult and traumatic memories?
Hypnotherapy for OCD*
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) involves obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours. While the disorder can affect people in different ways, it is generally characterised by obsessive behaviours, anxiety and compulsion to carry out an action, the acting of which provides immediate relief, but feeds the cycle of behaviour in the long run.
As OCD is an anxiety disorder, tackling the root cause of the anxiety is key. This is where I can support you to use hypnotherapy in a way that encourages relaxation and works with the unconscious to change unhelpful thought patterns and provide a new perspective.
Hypnotherapy can be exceptionally helpful for OCD - whether it’s about overcoming the disorder itself, or to help reduce stress and anxiety.
*If you think you may have OCD, contact your GP first. Your doctor will be able to assess you and determine whether or not it is OCD you’re struggling with.
Hypnotherapy for PTSD**
PTSD is a type of anxiety disorder that is associated with being involved in, or witnessing traumatic events. For some people, they continue to experience symptoms after a traumatic event that do not ease.
You might experience feelings of fear and stress, and/or have flashbacks or experience nightmares longer after the traumatic event has passed.
Another key symptom of PTSD is avoidance of reminders of the trauma. This could be people or places, or might mean avoiding talking about the experience, or distracting from feelings with work or numbing feeling.
Hypnotherapy can be helpful in managing PTSD by helping you to mentally and physically relax, reducing the intensity of some symptomology. It also helps to identify the precise triggers that you might not be consciously aware of.
A meta-analysis study published in 2015 revealed that hypnosis appears to be effective in alleviating symptoms of PTSD.
**Speak to your GP or a mental health professional if you think you may have PTSD.
We know from neuroscience that when acute (sort term) pain shifts to chronic pain, it can cause significant changes in brain activity. This can have an effect on mental abilities as well as raised level of stress, anxiety, low mood, and depression that can lead to increased levels of stress, insomnia and even depression and anxiety.
An important aspect of pain management involves looking at the mind-body connection.
Hypnotherapy can affect the perception of physical sensations to change the way we experience pain, helping to reduce stress. It also re-wires unhelpful thought patterns related to pain that can make a huge difference to pain perception.
Hypnotherapy doesn’t try to convince you that your pain doesn't exist, instead it aims to manage any fear and anxiety you may have relating to your pain. It also helps relax nervous system, dampening down the chemicals that cause the stress response in your body, reducing tension and helping your body to become less reactive to pain.
In hypnosis I take you to a state of deep relaxation that can temporarily tune out the conscious part of your mind, opening you up to the power of suggestion. At this point, I can make suggestions to encourage pain relief.
*If you are experiencing pain, you are always advised to see your doctor prior to commencing with hypnotherapy for pain management.
Phobias are irrational and often, intense fears in very specific contexts. They can be debilitating and life restricting if this situation or object is common in day-to-day life, holding you back from doing what you want to do.
We are born with only two fears: falling and loud noises. All other fears are learned responses. Phobias exist in our unconscious, so no matter how much we tell ourselves that “the thing”isn’t life-threatening, our minds and bodies still react with fear.
This is also why hypnotherapy and NLP are ideal for re-wiring the fear response and changing the way you feel and behave towards your old phobia.
Hypnosis re-wires your old phobia without any nasty surprises
The process itself involves putting you into a very relaxed, hypnotic state. If you’re unsure where your phobia came from, we may spend some time getting to the root of the phobia and remembering the event that triggered it (if there was one).
We can then move on to using different NLP, Hypnotherapy and Timeline Therapy™ techniques to help change your response. Rest assured that I do not spring any surprises on you either, you are in full control at all times.
Sleep Issues
Would you like to sleep really well, when you want to?
Would you like to feel calm and stop your mind racing?
Would you like to fall easily back to sleep if you wake in the night?
Sleep deprivation can leave us feeling exhausted, lacking in motivation and being more easily overwhelmed by anxiety and stress. Research shows sleep deprivation affects mental and physical health which can lead to depression, heart disease, and diabetes. It can even shorten your life expectancy.
Hypnotherapy can help aid with a full range of sleep issues such as:
-
bedwetting
-
insomnia
-
night-time anxiety
Sleep is vital for our mental and physical wellbeing
Sleep issues* cause stress, anxiety and unhealthy habits that are well suited to hypnotherapy where I help you uncover the root cause and assist you in rewiring unhelpful habits and thought patterns.
I blend hypnotherapy with NLP and Timeline Therapy™ techniques to help you enter a state of complete relaxation where your unconscious is more open to suggestion, to help your mind react differently.
*You should always visit your GP or healthcare professional if you are worried you may have a sleep disorder.
Smoking Cessation
It doesn't matter if you have smoked all your life...
Or if you have tried to quit and failed previously...
All you have to do is follow my instructions 100%...
3 sessions reduced from £300 to £200 till 28Feb
Hypnotherapy to live smoke free can be effective in challenging unhelpful mindsets and habitual behaviours associated with smoking, to help you live a healthier life.
We know cigarette smoking is one of the greatest causes of illness and premature death in the UK, but moving to living smoke free takes more than just willpower.
Before you change any habit, it’s important to recognise why you want to live smoke free
Hypnotherapy can be an effective way of stopping smoking for good. It works to deal with the underlying issues and break the unhelpful behaviours and thinking patterns associated with smoking e.g., smoking to relieve stress.
You need to be sure you are making this decision for yourself. Trying to quit when you’re not ready, or to please someone else doesn’t usually work and can lead to frustration, and feelings of failure.
Whatever your individual reason for stopping smoking, hypnotherapy is fast becoming one of the most popular forms of treatment, empowering you to take control and improve your health. We know, for example, that the time since your last cigarette affects the body in the following ways:
-
20 minutes: Blood pressure and heart rate return to normal.
-
12 hours: Carbon monoxide levels drop back to normal.
-
24 hours: The body starts to clear out the mucus build-up in the lungs.
-
72 hours: Breathing becomes easier and energy levels increase.
-
1 month: Appearance of the skin improves.
-
3 to 9 months: Lung function can improve by up to 10%.
-
1 year: Risk of suffering from a heart attack falls to about half of that of a smoker.
-
10 years: Risk of developing lung cancer falls to about half of that of a smoker.
-
15 years: Risk of suffering heart attack falls to that of a non-smoker.
In your hypnotherapy sessions I guide you into a deeply relaxed state and make bespoke suggestions that will help you re-wire thought patterns and behaviours associated with smoking.
